What is your approach? pt.1

What is your approach?

As the Lord has been doing spiritual surgical work in me, a lot of things that were never supposed to be in my heart are being exposed and removed. He’s been making me evaluate some things at the root and why I don’t obey him well in certain situations. Truth is I’ve realized I lacked the fear of the Lord, where I see obedience as an option, making God negotiable. Even though I never said it, even though it was never intentional, that is what my behavior was reflecting. When I don't evangelize to certain family members and complain or come up with certain excuses not to pour into them and be a vessel to allow God to change their hard hearts, it’s because I’ve given up on them. Yes, it may be difficult at times and it feels like it’s all in vain at times but the fear of the Lord would push me into just trusting that His plan is greater and always effective. After all, it may be difficult for me but nothing is impossible for God (Luke 1:37 and Matthew 19:26). This also relates to me trying to do things in my strength which typically leads to spiritual burnout, which in my case includes self-condemnation, self-rejection, feeling inadequate, and giving up. (Boy oh Boy! Can I tell you how my God is a deliverer? He has done such work in me that I now obey no matter what! My life is truly reflecting Zephaniah 3:13. What a mighty God we serve thank you, Lord Jesus. If you find yourself struggling with this I pray that the power and grace of God that set me free sets you free in Jesus’ name- Esther August 2024)

THAT IS BECAUSE IT WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO BE DONE IN MY STRENGTH IN THE FIRST PLACE. Zechariah 4:1 tells us that it is not by might, nor by power but by the Spirit of the Lord, things will be accomplished. One of the most recited verses Philippians 4:13 tells us “I Can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Apostle Paul gave a rebuke to the believers in Galatians 3:1-5:

1 Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you? For the meaning of Jesus Christ’s death was made as clear to you as if you had seen a picture of his death on the cross. 2 Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ. 3 How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect through your human effort? 4 Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it? 5 I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.”

It’s important to do a heart examination, to examine yourself with the faith God has given you. This way you can begin to see that your perspective has been hindered because of what’s in your heart. How do you approach people and things? Are you coming with the love and revelation of God, or are you approaching his instructions like a task and burden when he’s showing you to be Christ-like?

I will be releasing a part 2 to this, Lord willing. I pray that what was said here will lead you to spend one on one time with the Lord, with no distractions, not much talking, worship, and deep repentance. Please reevaluate your approach to things and people and ask the Lord to create in you a new heart so that you can approach things like Jesus.
